I have always been passionate about music and I came of age during an exciting time when music production was migrating from the studio to the computer allowing artists to record albums in their bedrooms and creating an explosion of experimentation and genres. After my first trip to India, in 1999, I was blown away by the culture and music, and upon my return started my first dj night called “Tabla” specializing in the fusion of Indian and electronic music. Soon after, I became a resident at the monthly Saffron Soul in NYC. Gradually I broadened my scope to include electronic music from other cultures and became the sound designer for the Starr Restaurant Group designing playlists for restaurants such as Pod, Buddakhan, Blue Angel, Tangerine, and Morimoto. After playing at many different clubs and dj nights in Philadelphia, I finally found my home at L’Etage where I hosted my night of global electronic sounds called “Jetlag”. After nine years there, I retired the night in 2012. I’m still very passionate about music and am always curating playlists and dreaming up mixes to capture a particular vibe. Here are a few.
